Gainsborough & Retford Evening League Tournament Finals
Gainsborough Tennis Club hosted for the first time the Gainsborough and Retford Evening League Tournament Finals on 5th September. The teams taking part were Retford v Epworth 1, and Haxey v Epworth 3. Over 100 people came to play or watch, and everyone was treated to a marvellous display of first class tennis.
The club provided refreshments for everyone, with Pimms, juices, cakes and cream scones. A raffle was also staged, raising around £140 for club funds. The weather stayed warm and sunny throughout the afternoon. It is now planned to make Tournament Finals a permanent fixture at Gainsborough.

Junior Singles Tournament
6 very keen juniors turned up on Saturday the 5th September and competed in a very keenly fought competition. The eventual winner was Jordan Phillips.
Although the numbers were few the tournament was deemed a good starting point and it has already been agreed to hold another tournament next year which will hopefully attract a few more players.

Annual Ladies Summer Tournament
The Annual Ladies Summer Tournament was held on July 15th. Unfortunately, due to the inclement weather, the tennis did not start until 10.30 am. 34 Ladies, from various clubs, including Lea, North Scarle, Grange Park, Scotter, Eastgate and Kirton Lindsey played in 6 groups. Lunch was served at about 1.00 pm along with a glass of Pimms. A successful raffle and the sale of soft fruits helped to swell the profit made, to £476.00 which was for club funds. Thanks are extended to all of the lady members who donated food towards the lunch, gave raffle prizes and helped out in the kitchen.
Well done to all the ladies.

6 Week Mini Tennis Coaching Courses
The 6 week course will give your child a great introduction to tennis. We use Mini Tennis equipment and a fun based structured coaching programme. Mini tennis rackets can be provided if required - all your child needs is appropriate clothing and trainers.

Website news
The new website seems to have gone down well with positive comments from both members and non-members. We will endeavour to put a lot more information on the website this year which will negate the need for lots of paper and will do our bit to save the planet!! We have had well over 100 people visiting the site which is great news for the club. I have endeavoured to keep the site updated with current news and information. Remember this is our website and club so if you have any suggestions or want something to be advertised please let me know.
